Everything You Asked At The Counter
21 straight answers about booking, the chair, beards, kids, parking and what's on the shelf. Anything we've missed, the shop answers the phone.
Booking & Walk-Ins
Do I need to book or can I walk in?
Both. We hold walk-in spots until 4pm Monday to Saturday, but Fridays and Saturdays book out by mid-week. Booking online guarantees your barber and your time.
Can I request the same barber every visit?
Yes. Select your preferred barber when booking online. They'll keep notes on your last cut so you don't have to brief the same fade twice.
How far ahead should I book?
For a weekday, the day before is usually enough. Fridays and Saturdays are the two that fill, and they tend to be gone by Wednesday, so book those earlier in the week.
What if I'm running late?
Call the shop and we'll tell you straight away whether we can still fit the full service in. We don't double-book, so a late start eats into your own appointment rather than the next person's.
How do I change or cancel a booking?
Use the link in your booking confirmation to move or cancel it, or call the shop and we'll do it for you. If you can give us a bit of notice, someone on the waitlist usually takes the spot.
In The Chair
How long does an appointment take?
A Buzz Cut is 15 minutes, a Fade / Style Cut 30, and a Re-Style 45. Cut and beard together runs 45 minutes, and a Hot Towel Shave is 30. We don't double-book. The time you book is the time you get.
What's the difference between a Fade / Style Cut and a Re-Style?
A Fade / Style Cut tightens up the cut you already have and finishes it clean. A Re-Style is anything that changes the shape: fades, bursts, crops, mullets, texture work or long-to-short. Re-Style includes a consultation and a wash, so it takes longer.
What's included in the price?
Consultation, hot towel, neck shave and a styling finish, on every service. There's no consultation fee, no upsell halfway through, and no different number at the counter.
Should I bring a photo?
If you have one, yes. Most of our barbers would rather see the cut you're after than hear it described, and it takes the guesswork out of the first five minutes.
Do you wash hair before the cut?
A wash is part of the Re-Style, which is why it runs to 45 minutes. On the shorter services we work dry or damp, and every service finishes with a hot towel and a neck shave.
Beards & Shaves
What's the difference between a beard trim and a hot towel shave?
A Beard Trim is 15 minutes of shape, length and a clean line through the cheek and neck. The Hot Towel Shave is the full thirty-minute ritual: hot lather, straight razor, towels and balm, and it takes the beard off rather than tidying it.
Do you do straight-razor shaves?
Yes. The Hot Towel Shave is done with a straight razor, hot lather and towels, and finished with balm. Thirty minutes, $62.
What is Camo Colour?
Grey blended down rather than blocked out. It softens the grey through the hair and beard so it reads as natural rather than as colour, and it grows out without a line. Thirty minutes, $72.
Kids
Do you cut kids' hair at the Bentleigh shop?
Yes. Boys 1 to 12 at $57, or $62 on a Saturday. Tuesday to Thursday afternoons are the quietest and best for first-timers.
My son is thirteen. Which price is that?
The adult one. The boys' price runs to twelve, and after that it's whichever service he's actually having, usually a Fade / Style Cut at $62 or a Re-Style at $72.

Paying & Products
How can I pay?
Card or cash at the counter. If you've booked online you can settle up in the shop as normal — booking doesn't take payment up front.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes, in any amount. Ask at the counter or send us a note through the contact form and we'll sort it out.
Can I buy the products you use on my hair?
Yes. We finish with Jukes, a Melbourne-made range, and it's on the shelf on your way out. Ask your barber which one suits your hair before you buy anything — if nothing on the shelf is right for you, they'll say so.
